After a longish break, Samyang (also known as Rokinon and Bower) returns to the scene on a high note by introducing its first autofocus lenses - Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC and Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC.
Both Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC and Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC are aimed at Sony E-mount mirrorless bodies with full-frame sensor size, and their filter diameter is 67mm. These fixed lenses boast wide apertures, which offer a beautiful bokeh effect, robust metal housings, as well as aspherical elements, which minimize chromatic aberrations and unnecessary light dispersion.
When it comes to the most important item, the thing that distinguishes them from other Samyang lenses - autofocus - the wide 14mm f/2.8 and standard 50mm f/1.4 are compatible with both phase-detect and contrast-detect sensors. In this way, they are different from their manual counterparts Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical and Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AS UMC.
New prime lenses Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC and Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC will arrive in July, while details about pricing are still to be announced.
