After introducing two trios of lenses during the summer (07.03. and 08.19.) and launching new firmware for the Nikon P900, Nikon has issued firmware update for the immensely popular Nikon D7100 and Nikon D5200 - version 1.03 for both of these models.
Aside from fixing some minor bugs, the new firmware versions for both DSLRs will primarily reduce horizontal line noise in HD videos (1280 x 720) recorded at 50 and 60 fps. Next, the firmware update will tackle an issue that causes the camera to freeze when the Clean Image Sensor option is selected - this, too, has to do with both Nikon D7100 and Nikon D5200.
As for the D7100's new firmware, it will take care of some more problems with this camera: occasional darkening of the display when images are viewed by pressing the playback button; the camera freezing when scrolling for a longer period of time through the menus for some languages; an issue with the Virtual Horizon option in the viewfinder.
