After introducing the new SL-mount and the mirrorless Leica SL (Typ 601) followed by 3 lenses, Leica has released a major firmware update, version 1.4, for its high-end MILC camera Leica T (Typ 701), which was launched in April last year.
The company has promised that the new firmware version will make the autofocus twice as fast, while the touchscreen responsiveness will increase by three times in the Review mode. This is great news for owners of this APS-C MILC camera, bearing in mind its interface, which is based on touch.
Thanks to the new firmware, the list of lenses that the Leica T (Typ 701) will be compatible with will be expanded, and most importantly, the list will also include full-frame SL lenses. What is more, with the arrival of the SL-mount and the full-frame Leica SL, the T-mount turned into the L-mount. Crop lenses designed for the T system have now been renamed TL and Leica intends to launch two new such lenses in 2016 - Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH and Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 ASPH - for the updated Leica T (Typ 701).
The 1.4 firmware version for the Leica T (Typ 701) can be downloaded from Leica's official website.
