In anticipation of Photokina, which will take place this month in Cologne, Fujifilm cranked up its engines and introduced to the world two new lenses - Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD and Fujinon XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR.

The Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD is aimed at Fujifilm X-Series and represents an updated version of the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R, so it uses the same 11 elements in 8 groups (one of which is aspherical, and two of which are extra low dispersion elements), yet it differs due to the fact that it features an apodization filter (which is where the acronym APD comes from). The said filter aims to make out-of-focus regions of an image highlighted and to make sure they are produced with as much smoothness as possible. Thanks to this filter, this lens will be ideal for portrait photography, with each detail being crystal clear. What is also expected from the XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD is that it will achieve the same sharpness as the existing XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD, but that its bokeh will be even more pleasant.

As for the Fujinon XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR, it is waterproof, and as such, it is designed to complement the Fuji X-T1, which is also waterproof, and to make an unbeatable combination with it for photographing underwater. In addition to being resistant to water, dust and low temperatures, this lens uses an internal zoom design, so the focal length remains constant throughout the whole zoom range. When it comes to a number of elements, the XF 50-140mm uses 23 elements in 16 groups, five of which feature extra low dispersion (ED), and one of which is a Super ED element; thus, chromatic aberrations are reduced significantly. This Fuji lens also boasts a top-notch G-sensor (G=gyroscope), a genuine image stabilization algorithm, as well as the world's first Triple Linear Motor for fast and quiet focusing and shooting.
