The company Delkin announced three new rugged Delkin BLACK SD memory cards specially designed to sustain unfavorable conditions such as high temperatures, as well as to be resistant to dust, water and high pressure. These cards, which the company describes as "the toughest and most reliable on the market", are intended for photographers who shoot in harsh and extreme conditions, and as such, they lessen the chances of losing material from the cards in case of physical damage.
As for the capacity, these rugged memory cards are offered in three versions: 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. As far as the speed is concerned, they belong to UHS-I category (speed class 3) and they transfer information at up to 99 MB/s, which results in much higher speed of photography and slow motion video recording. Since they belong to the speed class 3, the speed does not fall below 30 MB/s.
Thanks to its rugged nature, these cards can withstand pressure of up to 45lbs / 20kg. Furthermore, they can admirably endure submersion in water for up to 72 hours.
In addition, new Delkin BLACK SD memory cards can handle temperatures from -40 Celsius to incredible 85 Celsius (185 F). Future owners of these cards can register them on the official website of the said company and thus obtain a lifetime warranty, which enables guaranteed replacement in 48 hours (weekends excluded) in case a card fails to operate or is damaged.
Pricing and availability are yet to be determined.
