After introducing the superb Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens, Canon has released firmware update for its flagship, Canon EOS 7D Mark II, which arrived on the market precisely one year ago, before Photokina 2014, along with some other models.

The new firmware, version 1.0.5, will sort out a couple of bugs, among which are inconsistent peripheral illumination correction, a processing error in relation to the leap second for the Geotag information appended to image and Log data GPS functions, an issue with Err 70 being signaled in rare cases when shooting or the shutter not releasing, as well as errors occurring when performing an EF lens firmware update, which results in the progress bar displayed on the LCD monitor freezing at 100% even though the update has been completed. However, the most important innovation brought by this firmware version is improved AF accuracy when the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM or Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lenses are mounted on the Canon 7D Mark II.

New firmware for the Canon EOS 7D Mark II can be downloaded from Canon's official website.
